    Career Progression —What’s Important?

    By Carolyn Stevens | You As A Leader, Your Career | 0 comment | 9 August, 2017 | 5

Seth Godin, the best-selling American author, entrepreneur and marketer, told this story about Gaztelugatxe…

“There’s an island off the coast of Spain that houses a church.

The church has 230 steps to the top—and it’s said that it’s
    worth the climb.

    What a great expression!

Gaztelugatxe can now mean, ‘it’s a lot of steps but it’s worth it.’ ”

(It’s a tricky word to pronounce. If you care about the correct pronunciation, you’ll find it here.)

Gaztelugatxe is an accurate metaphor for what you need to do to progress your career.

It’s the Leaders Who Do Take Their Gaztelugatxe Steps
Who End Up in Their Ideal Role!

For you, is it worth taking the difficult but immensely worthwhile steps that’ll move you along your ideal career trajectory? Or not?

No matter what the goal, it’s hardly ever about whether it can be achieved. It’s more about how much you care about doing it.

    Here’s Another Angle

Years ago, I heard someone say,

“If it has been done, it can be done.

And if it can be done, you can do it.

The only question is ‘how important is it to you to do it?’”

Whether you create your ideal career trajectory, or not, will depend on your answers to three questions:

    1. How much do you care about securing your targeted role?

    2. How open are you to discovering what you need to do to create it?

    3. How much support do you have as you take your Gaztelugatxe steps?

Successful Leaders Never Go It Alone

They all have a skilled “partner-in-crime” who mentors, coaches, cajoles, listens and encourages them—objectively.

To accelerate your career progression, find your skilled partner-in-crime to help you to:

    • Get clear on what’s important to you

    • Bounce ideas around

    • Help you deal with the difficult stuff when it shows up

    • Care about you enough to give you candid feedback

    • Help increase your self-awareness (and self-acceptance)

    • Support you to be an authentic you

    • Lend an ear in challenging times

    • Encourage you when you need encouragement

    • Help celebrate your successes!

    Your Call to Action

First, how much do you care about climbing your Gaztelugatxe steps?

Second, are you up for discovering what you need to do to progress along your ideal career trajectory?

    Third, who is your “partner-in-crime”?

If you’re open to finding out how I could support you to take your Gaztelugatxe steps, send me an email to arrange a time to talk about your situation.

” Carolyn’s coaching is good for business. It’s customised and therefore relevant.
It enabled me to be a much better, more highly skilled leader.

I now have a better understanding of my habits. My level of confrontation
has reduced significantly and I’m now seen in a better light with colleagues.

Carolyn is a skilled, caring and results-oriented coach.”
