This is a no-brainer. It takes 5 seconds, it works and it’s alcohol free 🙂
We get stressed when we imagine bad things happening in advance of them happening, right?
“So Much On My Plate”…
Years ago a friend called and asked how I was.”Stressed. I have so much on my plate”, I responded.
Astutely, he said, “Stress feels bad for you, right? What is like ‘stress’ that doesn’t feel bad?”
“Excited”, was my reply.
He then said, “What would happen if you labeled this stress thing as ‘excited’?”
That Phone Call Has Positively Impacted Me Ever Since
Now when I feel stressed I label it as excitement.
I love feeling excited. It’s motivating. I enthusiastically jump in and tick tasks off my To Do List.
Your Stress Is Causing You More Stress
Here’s the critical bit…
When you’re focused on how stressed you feel, you’re making yourself more stressed!
Instead, label your stress as excitement. It’ll have you putting your attention on stuff you’re looking forward to. And increase your excitement.
Your Action Steps
I feel better when I do this relabelling. Plus I get lots more done (and I sleep better too).
Are you ready to turn your stress into “excitement”?
Go do it.
You’ll feel a lot happier when you spend your next 5 seconds this wisely.
“You have shown tremendous insight, have offered wise counsel and guidance.
