"Because of my coaching program, I’m more conscious of perceptions and how they influence business. I’ve learnt better ways of directly influencing people I work with.

Things progress more quickly and more easily now that I’ve discovered how to be more influential with others.

Carolyn is very skilled and experienced. She’s always outcome focused for me and for the business."

Leader Coaching Described
What will my Leader Coaching program do for the person being coached and for their organisation?

Leader Coaching is designed to support those in a people leadership or functional leadership role who want to do any of the following:

  • Enhance their capacity to be a really good leader—You’ll be surprised at how quickly they’ll make some quite remarkable shifts. The leaders that I’ve worked with frequently tell me that having me as their “silent partner” immediately helps them be much more aware of where they’re being effective and where they would benefit by changing their approach.

  • Grow their emotional intelligence and confront difficulties skillfully and professionally—You know, the leader’s stress levels will significantly diminish when this happens! When they share their thinking with me, when we discuss their thought processes, they’ll become very aware of what they want to do, and what they need to do, in order to create the results they’re after. Then I help them create those results.

  • Develop their interpersonal communications, relationships and the amount of influence they have with others—Removing the blockages that stop them from being as influential as they’d like to be, and then having their communications and their relationships really work for them, will have pay offs in all parts of their lives.

  • Feel confident that they can handle pretty much any performance problem that comes up—When they very successfully resolve the performance problems around them, more of their energy, and more of their team members’ energies, can be put into achieving performance goals.

  • Progress their team’s performance, and produce much better results all round—Imagine the impact they’ll have on their results when they and each of their team members are truly aligned and on track. Teams that work effectively usually have a huge impact on the effectiveness of the business.

  • Have their performance be as high as their potential—Leaders I work with feel proud of what they’re accomplishing as a result of their coaching program. I’ll be supporting them to set their sights high, and then I’ll be working with them to figure out what needs to happen so that they meet, or exceed, their new, higher expectations of themselves.

What happens in a Leader Coaching program?

We jointly design each Leader Coaching program specifically for the person being coached. They can feel confident that they’ll reach their targeted outcomes, and the outcomes that their organisation is after.

And importantly, they can be assured that our discussions have complete confidentiality. I do however encourage them to regularly communicate with their organisational sponsor about what they’re achieving, and specifically how they’re progressing with their coaching goals.

  • In their coaching program, we’ll start with a discussion about their needs, and their organisation’s needs, from coaching. We’ll determine exactly what results would make both them and their organisation exceedingly pleased with the decision to embark on their coaching program.

  • After our initial goal setting discussion, we’ll determine where they’re currently placed compared to their targeted outcomes. I’ll gather their views, perceptions, thoughts and feelings; have them complete a couple of assessments; and we’ll probably get some feedback from others. We’ll use whatever approach will give us a clear view of where our efforts need to be placed in the upcoming months so that their and the organisation’s outcomes are achieved.

  • We’ll meet face-to-face, twice a month for their regular coaching sessions, usually in my office. If our locations make that difficult, we’ll find a solution that won’t impact the effectiveness of their program.

  • In each coaching session we’ll focus on doing whatever needs to be done to close the gaps between what’s currently happening and what they want to happen. We’ll work with real-life situations. We’ll leverage some of the leader’s existing strengths, add to their repertoire of behaviours, give them some more options by adding to their skill base, or figure out a new perspective on something—we’ll do whatever is going to give them the results they and their organisation are after.

  • We’ll take advantage of occasional between-session telephone conversations or emails. I’m responsive and attend to the leader’s needs in a timely fashion. (Because I aim to be responsive, I work with only a small number of coachees at any point in time, usually around 12.)

  • The leader will be provided with their own personalized Coaching Resource Centre. Their customized, password protected web site will give them immediate and convenient 24x7 access, via the Internet, to a valuable library of resource documents and materials that are relevant to their coaching journey.

  • Organisational sponsorship is required to support a monthly retainer and a one-off fee to cover time and costs involved in the initial diagnosis. Most of the leaders I coach find that they continue to reap the benefits of their program, and provide benefits to their organisation, for at least 12 months.

Now that you know more about what my leader coaching program will do for you, and what happens in a leader coaching program, you can either look at some Leader Coaching Case Studies that describe the results from some of my past programs—or go directly to the Contact Carolyn page and initiate a conversation with me about your needs and how they could be met.
